Netflix released teaser photos of “Trese”, the anime series based on the Filipino graphic novel by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldissimo and we can’t wait to see more!

“Aswangs of Manila, beware: Alexandra Trese is coming for you,” Netflix wrote on its Facebook post. “Enjoy this very first look at TRESE, coming soon on Netflix.”

“Trese” is a horror and crime series that follows the story of Alexandra Trese, a detective who deals with supernatural crimes. A three-time winner of the Philippine National Book Award for Best Graphic Literature of the Year, the story is based on Philippine myths, but through the lens of a detective. According to a statement from Netflix, the story will be set in Manila.

Based on an interview with ABS-CBN, Taito Okiura, the director of international originals for anime, said that “Trese” will be part of the 17 new original productions from Asia that Netflix will be releasing soon.

The executive producer for this series will be Jay Oliva, who has worked on US blockbusters like “Wonder Woman” and “The Legend of Korra”, while Shanty Harmayn and Tanya Yuson from BASE Entertainment will produce the show.

As of writing, Netflix has not yet announced the date of its release.
