Neil Arce Opens Up About Son Joaquin: “Can’t Ask for a Better Son”

It’s been a heartwarming week for Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab 2.0 viewers, thanks to one of the housemates who has quietly become a source of inspiration—Joaquin Arce. And if there’s anyone prouder than the audience, it’s his dad, Neil Arce.

Earlier this week, Neil shared a short but meaningful message on Instagram after watching one of Joaquin’s emotional moments inside PBB. The young Arce opened up about being born deaf in his right ear—something he has lived with his whole life.

According to Joaquin, he grew up not really dwelling on what others might see as a limitation.

Pinanganak po akong bingi sa kanang tainga… But my entire life, I’ve been looking at it in such a positive light,” he shared in an earlier episode.

He also talked about how his parents played a huge role in shaping that mindset. He said he never felt like he had “special needs,” because at home, he was treated just like any other kid—supported, encouraged, and reminded that what made him different also made him unique. In fact, he even considered it his “superpower.”

Neil reposted the clip on Instagram with a message that many parents could probably relate to: “From an accident to a blessing. From having special needs to having superpowers. From inspiring me to inspiring millions. Can’t ask for a better son.”

Fans chimed in on the post, expressing how refreshing it was to see such open support from a parent, especially on a platform as public as PBB. Others also praised Joaquin’s mom and the entire family for raising him to be empathetic and attentive—a trait that seems to stand out in his interactions inside the house.

Angel Locsin, Joaquin’s stepmom, also broke her social media break recently to share her own message of pride. According to her, seeing Joaquin transform from a child into someone who keeps the peace at home—and now inside the house—has been a rewarding experience.

She also clarified something viewers may have noticed: “If he ever talks a bit loud or doesn’t respond, please forgive him—our son is completely deaf in his right ear,” she wrote.
