PSA: MRT-3 Operations Will Be Suspended On These Dates

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will be suspended for repairs and maintenance activities.

According to the Department of Transportation, the line will be temporarily shut down from October 31 to November 2, 2020 for bushing replacement and turnout activity at the Taft Avenue station. These repairs will also include the adjustment of the bus tie, which supplies power to the depot from its Meralco power source in Balintawak and Diliman.

In addition, the 2A and 2B turnout sections on Taft Avenue will be renovated. Turnouts are used to move a train from one track to another. From October 10 to 11, the 1A and 1B turnout stations were adjusted and are 91% complete, and welding will continue.

On October 1, the MRT-3 increased the speed of its trains from 30 kph to 40 kph. Once turnouts are adjusted, it aims to increase its speed further to 50 kph this coming November and 60 kph in December.
