Lily Monteverde, the founder of Regal Entertainment, passed away today on August 4, 2024.
She was 85 years old.
Her husband, Remy, passed away a few days before, on July 29.
Mother Lily’s son Goldwin Monteverde, also the head coach of the UP Fighting Maroons, confirmed the news in a text to GMA News Online.

Mother Lily established Regal Entertainment in 1962. Today, it is the oldest existing filmmaking and entertainment firm in the Philippines.
The studio is behind some of the most iconic films and franchises, including Shake, Rattle & Roll, Mano Po, and Scorpio Nights.
Mother Lily also helped launch the careers of some of local showbiz’s biggest stars, including Gabby Concepcion, Albert Martinez, Maricel Soriano, Lorna Tolentino, Janice de Belen, Alma Moreno, Gino Roque, Dina Bonnevie, Carmina Villaroel, Aiko Melendez, and more.
