Morissette Is Returning to Theater in “The Notebook: The Musical”—Here’s Where You Might’ve Seen Her Onstage

Morissette is heading back to the stage this year, taking on the role of Middle Allie in The Notebook: The Musical, which opens this September 2026 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati. It’s a notable return—not just because of the production itself, but because it marks her first time back in musical theater in nearly a decade.

Before this casting, Morissette’s theater resume was relatively short but varied, with a couple of productions that longtime theatergoers might remember.

Back in 2012, she appeared as Mitchie Torres in Repertory Philippines’ staging of Disney’s Camp Rock: The Musical. The role, originally played by Demi Lovato in the film, leaned heavily on vocals, aligning closely with Morissette’s strengths as a performer.

A few years later, in 2015, she took on a different kind of project: Chuva Choo Choo – Mr. Kupido Musicale, an original Filipino musical where she played the character Darla. Compared to Camp Rock, the production offered a more local take on musical storytelling.

After that, Morissette’s career largely shifted toward music and, more recently, film. In 2025, she made her film debut in Song of the Fireflies, a musical drama based on the Loboc Children’s Choir, where her performance earned her a Best Actress award.

Now, she’s returning to the theater through The Notebook: The Musical, a stage adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel. The production is known for portraying its central characters, Allie and Noah, across different stages of their lives—hence Morissette’s role as “Middle Allie.”

In a press statement, she said the timing of the opportunity felt right, especially since she had already been considering a return to theater. She also mentioned being familiar with the story and drawn to the musical’s score, which she described as both “heartwarming” and “powerful.”

“Love conquers all, especially when it stands the test of time, [as] Allie and Noah’s does. I love how the story shows them across different generations and how their relationship grows and changes through the years,” she says.

For those planning to catch the Manila run, The Notebook: The Musical opens on September 3, 2026, with tickets ranging from ₱900 to ₱5,500 via TicketWorld. Early access starts April 20, 2026, for select cardholders and subscribers.
