If you ever find yourself wandering out and about looking for a new place to drink and dine in the busy business district of Ortigas, you just might chance upon a Public Urban Bar woven at The Sapphire Bloc. Its warm, cozy interiors will glimmer and steal your eye as this P.U.B. has the inviting welcome of an old home.
Upon entry, you will be greeted by the bar that is embraced by an assemblage of bottles and shot glasses that sit side by side. The P.U.B. is lit with the perfect orange light that is neither too dim nor bright enclosed in brick walls. It is complete with high tables and chairs, and a communal dining area for big gatherings. Outside, you will be met by the alfresco with barrel tables that justify your craving for the pubgrub and aching for your instagram like bump. Upstairs is equally as lush, with a variation of tables and chairs, and a wall with pictures that hint the history and influence behind the place.
The food served in Moonshine P.U.B. tastes the way it looks: amazing. The colors alone are appetizing as they colonize your plate and invade your senses. According to Chef Jehrad Dolino, Moonshine P.U.B.’s executive chef, the food served is playful and engaging, which makes the food pleasing to the eyes, tongue, nose, and, sometimes, even for the ears.
Who wouldn’t love the Sriracha Chicken Skewers? And who wouldn’t love the grilled and glazed chicken tenders that make it almost impossible to share?
Or the Fatty Fries that could be held responsible for the gains after devouring the whole serving to yourself?
How about this Truffle Mac n’ Cheese with five kinds of Cheese that melt simultaneously in your mouth like a slowly subsiding explosion of goodness with that truffle essence and arugula kick?
A crowd pleaser is this Lamb Shank Caldereta. Chef Jehrad highlights Filipino flavors through familiar vehicles, and this dish bags it! Its tender, fork-tender lamb that is stewed in tomatoes would tap into the 10 year old you.
But the star of the show, and also another of the the crowd favorite, would be none other than this 500g Crispy Pork Belly. It is good for 4, so there is no need to be intimidated. The glutton’s possession pleases its crowd with a hefty portion of crunchy skin that you just can’t get enough of, succulent pork that is undeniably addictive, garlic confit, Moonshine vinegar, porky bbq jus, and, to make it healthy, roasted onions.
And when you’re having a long day, never forget that this P.U.B. serves 9 signature cocktails that are different and distinct to each their own. Served with fresh ingredients with the perfect blend and taste of aroma and flavor, these signature cocktails are perfect for the weather, rain or shine!
Owned by five friends who specialize and thrive in the food and service industry and are products of one of the top culinary and hospitality schools in Manila, Renz Mediarito, Jehrad Dolino, Jared Sto. Tomas, Gian Mathay, and Rainier Barbers, make the Moonshine P.U.B. experience worthwhile.
With their combined honed skills and knowledge with food and beverage, you can almost never go wrong with anything in Moonshine P.U.B. Their passion for the food and service industry that is embedded in the P.U.B. means that you will always be well taken care of. They have thought of everything according to your comfort and happiness.
Each table is a cozy rendition of a home, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and the food and drinks would perhaps turn you greedy, but there’s plenty for everyone inside its brick walls and photographed covered halls.
