Thank You =)
Mama and I look very much alike. We’ve been called each other’s twin, photocopy, carbon copy and what-have-you almost every time someone sees us together for the first time. Despite our uncanny resemblance though, there lies a stark difference in our dispositions.
I am deliberate (if sometimes cautious, but never anti-social) with my words and actions, while Mama tends to be spontaneous and bubbly.
Mama was at the graduation rites of our college this April — this isn’t at all odd or surprising, except for the fact that my own graduation is slated for next year. She came to cheer on my friends who were graduating, most of whom she had already come to know and love as her own children in the course of countless meetings, hangouts, movie marathons and sleepovers we’ve hosted at home.
To my surprise and slight horror, she strode right up to my friends and gave them cheek-air kisses as the others were being called to the stage to receive their certificates. She even brought the graduates gifts that would be of use for them in the work force, which she insisted on “delivering” to each of the recipients as the ceremony wore on.
As an usherette, it was all I could do to tell my own mother to behave and wait till the rites were over before approaching the graduates. The whole scene felt like it came straight out of a Freaky Friday sequel.
I can list an infinite number of instances when she showed me her love. But how many mothers can boast of loving and being loved by so many adoptive children? Even if she tends to be boisterous — and even if her quirks make me feel like the parent in the relationship sometimes — Mama is never pompous. And more importantly, she continues to amaze me with her propensity to be generous.
No matter how ‘makulit’ and nagging she becomes on things that annoy us sometimes, but once she smiles, makes “lambing” and shows us her TLC, it suddenly takes away all the hurt and makes us love her even more! She never fails to spoil us even if we’re kinda hard-headed kids. 🙂
The most quirkiest thing about my mom is that she’s making my diabetic life easier and better. 🙂 As a diabetic, ang hirap mag-adjust lalo na sa foods, kaya ang ginagawa nya, lagi nya kong pinagluluto ng kung anu-anong veggies but with a twist! kasi alam nyang di naman ako mahilig sa gulay pero yun ang makakabuti saken. Like yung ampalaya leaves at yung dahon at bulaklak ng kalabasa, she’s adding a different ingredients and look sa mga ganung veggies para makain ko. And even malungggay leaves turned into juice, ampalaya shake, masarap ng inumin dahil sa secret recipe nya… Tapos sasabihin nya saken, “Ubusin mo yan ha, sumakit na yung mata ko sa computer kakahanap ng recipe para sayo. ” We really don’t have much in life so she’s doing everything in her own little way to help me. And that’s why I love her even more.. <3

The quirkiest thing about my mom is that she is really a kid-at-heart and that makes me love her sooooo much more! I love it when she acts like a teenager and it makes me feel that she’s just my sister and that we are so close! She even play Xbox with us! Isn’t that a cool thing?? We even have food trips together with my sisters! She also have Facebook and she also like to play Tetris! I don’t know if that’s cool to everyone but for me, it’s the coolest thing every that why I love my mom very much!
