The Philippines has never experienced snow but we’ve seen enough of it in movies to know that snow and snowmen bring joy to people. But in the new movie The Snowman, the season is far from joyous.

The Snowman is based on Norwegian author Jo Nesbø’s 2007 novel of the same name and follows Harry Hole, a detective looking for a serial killer. The killer calls himself the Snowman Killer and is known for cutting off his victim’s head.
Michael Fassbender stars as Hole, and he is joined by Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, J.K. Simmons, and Chloë Sevigny. The film is directed by Tomas Alfredson,  who also directed the thrillers Let the Right One In and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
