The Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) was supposed to end this coming Tuesday. However, after recording 17,447 new coronavirus cases, Malacañang has announced that MECQ will be extended for Metro Manila until September 7 now.

Nearby provinces Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal will also be under MECQ until September 7. NCR, Bataan, and Laguna will also have added restrictions on dining, personal care services, and religious activities.
