Matteo Guidicelli was among the graduating class of the University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu City where he completed his bachelor’s degree in marketing management.
The university shared pictures from the commencement exercises last December 9, 2023, one of which shows Matteo giving a speech.
According to the university, Matteo “emphasized the importance of responsible usage of social media and the power of perception” in his speech and “invited his fellow Josenian graduates to be catalysts of positive change.”
It was also mentioned in the post that the actor is the grandson of the Cebu City university’s former dean, the late chief justice and senator Marcelo Fernan.
“My only teacher and leader was my father. My dream in life is to be or try to be as good as my father in business, but I said to myself, ‘How would I do this? when you don’t have formal background education?'” Matteo was quoted saying in his speech, according to a report in the Philippine Daily Inquirer. “I started developing this inspiration, motivation, and appreciation for the course and why I was doing it. I started learning, appreciating, and taking every class very seriously.”
“Each and every one of us today has the power to create a difference, and because of what USJ-R was given to us today with our diplomas and education, this power has been solidified with us, in our hands. With the use of social media, we have the power to create perception, to create change, to create an effect on our Kababayans,” he added.
Before this, Matteo graduated from the Presidential Security Group training program in 2022, took a bachelor’s degree in performing arts at Columbia College in Chicago, and also took theater courses at Brent International School.
