The boxing legend announced that he will face the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight belt Mexican champion Mario Barrios on July 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, United States.

“I’m back. On July 19, I return to the ring to face WBC Welterweight Champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Let’s make history!” he declared.

This marks Pacquiao’s first professional fight since his unanimous decision loss to Yordenis Ugas in August 2021. He officially retired the following month and has since focused on his political career.

Despite his time away from the ring, Pacquiao remains a formidable figure in boxing, boasting a professional record of 62 wins, 8 losses, and 2 draws, including 39 knockouts.

Now at 46, he can surpass his own record as the oldest welterweight champion. He originally achieved this feat in 2019, when he beat Keith Thurman for the World Boxing Association (Super) title at the age of 40.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old Barrios holds a record of 29 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw, with 18 knockouts. He will be defending his WBC welterweight title for the second time, following his successful bout against Abel Ramos in 2024.
