Manila Pop Up Seafood Sandwiches:
Erwan Heussaff’s Tempura Oyster Po Boy

Erwan Heussaff’s Tempura Oyster Po Boy consisted of oysters, kimchi slaw, pickled radish and uni cream on a hot dog bun and every bite of it was like heaven in my mouth. Perfect for lovers of spicy food like myself,  Erwan Heussaff’s Tempura Oyster Po Boy provided just the right amount of spice – the kind where you can taste it, but don’t necessarily cry or want to tear your nose out because of it. I vowed that I would learn to make seafood sandwiches like these after I tasted it… until I met the next of the seafood sandwiches on our table, anyway.

Manila Pop Up Seafood Sandwiches:
Erwan Heussaff’s Soft Shell Crab Burger

Erwan Heussaff’s Soft Shell Crab Burger consisted of soft shell crab, pickles, arugula and tamarind spiced sauce on a bun. If possible, this was even better than the previous sandwich. That might partly be because soft shell crabs are my favorite sea creatures (to eat), though. While I did have some trouble finishing it because there was just too much crab for lil ol’ me in there, I would definitely keep coming back for mini versions of these seafood sandwiches in a heartbeat if Manila Pop Up sold them regularly somewhere. *hint hint*

Manila Pop Up Seafood Sandwiches:
Erwan Heussaff’s Lobster Roll

While I wasn’t able to taste Erwan Heussaff’s Lobster Roll myself, Anton told me that it was good. “At first, the mix of ingredients used seemed too complex and I thought they would mask the lobster’s natural flavor,” he said. “However, I stand corrected. From all of the seafood sandwiches, this one the one that was executed the best for me. Plus, the bread was delicious and the quality was evident.”

Thank you for being so nice, patient and accommodating, Erwan Heussaff! 🙂

The shoestring fries with herbs, spiked lemonade, buko and avocado ice candy were great treats from the Manila Pop Up event, as well. (Don’t judge me. It was my cheat day. :p)

So… was it worth it in the end, then? Definitely. In fact, if I had to wait for 5 hours every week just to get a taste of one of Erwan Heussaff’s Manila Pop Up seafood sandwiches, I would. Though if Manila Pop Up did turn this into a weekly thing, I’m hoping the lines won’t be as long anymore. :p In a nutshell: it was definitely worth it!

Don’t miss out on Manila Pop Up‘s next event When in Manila! Stay tuned!
