Pluma is one of those picturesque items worthy of double taps on Instagram. The quotes printed out in their products are perfect for dreamers and hustlers. The calligraphy is on point. While I enjoy browsing through beautiful works of people who are into calligraphy, there was nothing much I could do with them except to set them as my desktop wallpaper–and then came Pluma.

The woman behind Pluma is none other than Geli Balcruz, who describes her products as “quirky knickknacks transformed into daily essentials.” Like most products featured here, it’s interesting to see how a creativity and vision are turned into usable products. Geli shares that calligraphy was initially a stress reliever from her day job. “To be honest, it wasn’t really my intention to turn this hobby into a business. But I took inspiration from what my mom told me and she said that what I do is a gift and I must share it with the world. It was a nerve-wracking experience, I joined bazaars and I was happy if I sell 1-2 pieces of my items. Now, I felt the need to grow both as a maker and as businessperson. What I’ve learned is we have to constantly innovate to serve the market we created. I love to join bazaars to meet new people and that’s why hard work should always be coupled with treating people right,” she shared.

Geli added, “Pluma was born out of sheer love for letters, paper products and good design. Journey with me as I dance with letters and transform them into everyday essentials.”
