Founded in 1874, Lyle & Scott is rooted in its heritage as a Scottish knitwear brand that banks on its unrivalled manufacturing expertise and the innovative spirit of its founded William Lyle and Walter Scott. Formerly known for its golfing knitwear, the brand has expanded to include an accessories line and has acquired a following amongst the youth subculture. To this day, the brand still draws from a 125 year old archive and is represented by the “Golden Eagle” logo.
Constantly keeping things fresh and relevant all the while staying true to its roots, Lyle & Scott launches a limited edition collection that aims to revive the brands’ design heritage. Made vibrant and fresh by drawing inspiration from today’s street style, the line boasts of effortless and casual cool looks that are timeless and modern at the same time.
140 years and counting
Lyle & Scott possess a distinct manufacturing pedigree combined with a long streak of limitless innovation and reinvention to stay relevant yet true to its heritage. With that said, this season proves to be highly monumental for the brand as it celebrates 140 years of superior craftsmanship, endless innovation, and tasteful reinvention all without losing its core characters.
Stringing together Lyle & Scott’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection is a celebratory line of pieces which resulted from looking back through the archives and delving back into the roots of the brand. The result is a premium line of integral pieces that boast of the original “L&S Ltd’Logo.” Alongside the logo, an embroidered tonal eagle can be found on the sleeves of the shirts. This detail serves as homage to the roots of Lyle & Scott and where it ultimately came from.
But unlike the bright colors that are commonly associated with the brand due to its strong golfing heritage, this season’s palette is drawn from Lyle & Scott’s signature tartan patterns. Find sedated Scottish tones of berry, blue, black, navy, and ivory.
Very classic yet ultimately modern and on trend, the collection imbibes a cool and preppy sensibility that is youthful and casual. The collection consists of Lyle & Scott’s DNA styles such as polos, sleeveless jumpers, vests and long sleeve jumpers with the Argyle design featured in select pieces.
Though versatile and classic, the collection will only be available for two seasons at General Bonifacio High Street and Ayala Cebu.
