Singer-songwriter LUMI released his debut album Intimate on September 5, 2025, a deeply personal record born out of heartbreak, healing, and rediscovery. Leading the release was the focus track “Nahulog,” a tender ode to the messy, unexpected thrill of falling for someone you never saw coming. The track captured the confusion, oddness, and quiet joy of realizing your heart had already chosen someone even when your head didn’t plan on it. With its lighthearted energy, “Nahulog” brought to life the spark of young love and the delicate push-and-pull of friends-to-lovers stories, marking one of the brighter, more hopeful moments in the album’s overarching narrative.
The track took root in LUMI’s own story, finding inspiration in his life and in the timeless magic of Filipino rom-coms. “The song is about falling for someone by accident,” he said. “It’s about not knowing what to do when you begin to have these feelings. I think a lot of people know how that feels.”
Intimate reflected months of writing and reflection, serving as both a grieving process and a release. It was a collection that explored the highs and lows of a relationship that was almost love but never quite enough, mourning the future that could have been and processing the space between fleeting beauty and inevitable loss. For LUMI, the most difficult part of making the album was figuring out how much of himself he was willing to share. At first, he worried that releasing songs about a failed relationship years later would feel like he wasn’t over it. But the time it took gave the songs more depth and clarity, transforming them from raw outpourings into thoughtful reflections.
The journey toward the album began with singles like “Naked” and “Kislap,” which captured the rose-colored beginnings of love, followed by “AKIN,” a more bittersweet reminder of how relationships begin to fade. These songs became the stepping stones that led to the emotional arc of the full record.

To celebrate the release, LUMI will hold an album launch show on September 20, 6PM at A.bode Space, San Juan, featuring performances by OZO, The Ridleys, LUMI, and a DJ set by Gabriel. The night carries personal significance for him, as he will be sharing the stage with longtime friends and collaborators who have been part of his journey since the very beginning.
Releasing Intimate marked a milestone that LUMI admitted felt both overwhelming and exhilarating. “This is the first time I’m putting out a piece of work so explicitly personal,” he reflected. “I debated whether or not to make it obvious that it’s about a breakup, but in the end, I thought to myself, might as well. It would do me a disservice creatively if I filtered myself too much.”
Emerging in 2025 with his heartfelt storytelling and evocative songwriting, LUMI steadily built momentum through his singles and has now marked a milestone with his first full-length album. Intimate set the stage for a promising new voice in the local music scene, resonating with anyone who has loved, lost, and longed for what could have been.
