Here in the Philippines, summer often equate to the best beach and sunset photos. In Japan, however, summers mean the arrival of fireflies, and for a few photographers, the light they chase won’t be found at the beach, but in the woods instead.
What follows are photos taken by several photographers over Japan’s summer, and I think we can all agree when I say, they look absolutely magical. These photographs are actually composites, which means these are photos of the same frame layered many times to duplicate the lights from the fireflies, but nevertheless, these are photos still worthy to be gawked at. The mere appearance of these little winged creatures, no matter few or many, bring upon such a sense of fantasy and hope, which are definitely captured in these images.
