7. Banana Plantation Tour
It’s always nice to know how things are done, right? So, one of the many activities you can avail at Banana Beach is a the Plantation Tour. Here you will you see how it’s being cultured, planted, cleaned, hauled, and packed.
Part of the tour was to know how they carefully culture a seed before field planting. According to the lady, it takes about 6 months to 1 year to successfully harvest bananas.
After the process, they plant it at their Nursery area.
As mentioned by the tour guide, they wrap the fruit with a plastic as protection from the bugs, etc.
When they are good to go, they clean them first, then pack them accordingly.
This is how they haul the bananas. The person who hauls the bananas is called “karero.” It was definitely a great experience for my son to be a karero even for a short time.
Part of the packaging process. Bananas are carefully cleaned and packed for export. They are being exported to China, Middle East, Australia, and Japan.
By the way, aside from Bananas, they also procure coco sugar and other coconut products.
Unfortunately, it was too hot for us to wander at the coconut farm.
You can also buy coco sugar there, which is relatively cheaper than the supermarkets. The 500 grams costs P200.
Overall Experience
Our experience at Banana Beach Davao was remarkably memorable. Banana Beach offers exciting water Activities like water trampoline, kayaking, and more!
Of course, water activities are fun to do at Banana Beach. We tried the banana boat for 15 minutes. Kids below 12 years old aren’t allowed for safety purposes.
Sadly, we weren’t able to do Kayaking because of my two little kids. Maybe next time! 🙂
We stayed for three days and two nights, and during those times, the kids forgot about the gadgets and truly embraced nature and wandered everywhere. I’m glad our Davao experience was stamped in their memory.
Definitely worth trying, Water trampoline! I suggest doing this early morning around 7 or 8am because the water is calm and not too hot for the little kids.
