Filipino music echoed through the vibrant streets of Argentina as Banda Kawayan Pilipinas proudly represented the country during the grand parade of the Festival Internacional de Folklore Ashpa Súmaj (FIFAS) 2026, held from October 6 to 12, 2026, in Santiago del Estero, Argentina.

As the sole delegation from Asia participating in the parade, the group captivated the crowd by performing beloved Filipino folk songs using their signature traditional bamboo instruments, including the classic Ilocano tune “Pamulinawen.”
It was a truly goosebump-inducing moment for the Filipino musicians as familiar melodies resonated thousands of miles away from home, surrounded by enthusiastic Argentines and international delegations.
Adding an extra touch of heart to the celebration, Banda Kawayan surprised local spectators by playing “Carnavalito,” bringing the lively, infectious rhythms of traditional Andean folk music to life through uniquely Filipino craftsmanship.
More than just a cultural parade, the occasion served as a deeply meaningful exchange of musical traditions, beautifully demonstrating how music transcends language, geography, and borders.
From the Philippines to South America, Banda Kawayan Pilipinas continues to raise the Philippine flag high, sharing the rich, beautiful tapestry of Filipino culture with the rest of the world.
