LOOK: Dekada ’70 The Musical is Coming Back Next Year!

After having been staged in two limited runs last year, Palanca Award-winning theater artist Pat Valera’s “Dekada ’70 The Musical” is set to make its comeback on March 2020.

The announcement was made on Facebook last October 3, together with a call for auditions.

The play is based on the Lualhati Bautista’s 1983 classic of the same name and narrates the story of a middle-class family living through the tumultuous decade of the 1970s under the Marcos regime. While husband and wife tandem Julian and Amanda continue to take an apolitical stance, their views gradually change as their sons all begin to join the underground movement to overthrow the dictatorship.

Considering the country’s current political climate, this play comes at an opportune moment to remind today’s youth that, indeed, the fight is far from over. “Dekada ’70 The Musical” will definitely be worth the wait!

The musical will be staged under Black Box Productions. Cast auditions will be held on October 17 and 18.
