“GomBurZa” is the newest historical film currently in the works that aims to shed more light and give more humanity to the three Catholic priests who were killed in 1872 for alleged treason and sedition.
Just this week, the actors who will portray the three figures have been revealed, and they are Dante Rivero portraying Padre Mariano Gomez, Cedrick Juan as Padre José Burgos, and Enchong Dee as Padre Jacinto Zamora.
The cast of the film likewise includes prominent names in the showbiz industry, including Piolo Pascual will be playing the role of Padre Pedro Pelaez who was the Filipino clergy leader mentoring Padre José Burgos, Epi Quizon, Jaime Fabregas, Carlitos Siguion-Reyna, Khalil Ramos, Elijah Canlas, Neil Ryan Sese, Paolo O’Hara, Tommy Alejandrino, Gerry Kaimo, Dylan Tay Talon, Jomari Angeles, and Bon Lentejas.
“GomBurZa” will be directed by award-winning director Pepe Diokno (“Engkwentro” (2009), “Above the Clouds” (2014)) with screenplay by Rody Vera (“Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” (2018)). It will be produced by Jesuit Communications, the media arm of the Society of Jesus in the Philippines.
