In case you missed it, the Internet went wild after the big reveal of a beloved Disney character being openly bisexual in the cartoon show The Owl House. After catching wind of the news, Riverdale star Lili Reinhart has shared her thoughts about it!
Lili spoke to BBC News about how happy she felt towards the bisexual representation in the kids’ show especially since she herself is one. “There are a lot of bisexual people, including me. Before, I felt that people were going to invalidate what I was saying by telling me I was going through a phase,” she said.
With more LGBTQ+ characters coming to mainstream media, Lili hopes that it can spark important conversations that will correct this misconception, “as I’ve been met with comments of ‘you’ll grow out of it’ but I know that’s not true”.
“I think it’s important to make it more normal, as I feel in cinema and TV, the characters are usually gay or straight, there’s not a lot of bisexual characters—but it should be normalized,” she added.

It was last June when Lili came out to the public through an Instagram post showing her support for an “LGBTQ+ for Black Lives Matter” protest. “Although I’ve never announced it publicly before, I am a proud bisexual woman,” she wrote.
