Fancy a cup of tea?
When In Manila, keep calm and have some tea! The Wine Depot recently invited us to try their line of La Maison Du The teas (sounds fancy, right?) and to introduce their new offering which is the High Tea Wednesdays. A very casual approach to tea time without all that fancies and intricacies.
Coffee is much more popular in the Philippines but I stopped drinking coffee because I had palpitations from it, so tea got my attention. Since then, it was fun discovering different brands and flavors of teas. It is perfect with a bunch of pastries and a good book!
Tucked along N. Garcia in Makati, didn’t thought the Wine Depot has a cafe that serves full meals, coffee and now they’re having High Tea Wednesdays!
High Tea Wednesdays can be availed from 3pm to 5pm every Wednesdays at The Wine Depot. For Php500, you’ll enjoy a pot of your choice of La Maison Du The tea (available in seven flavors) and a selection of sweet and savory items including sausage rolls, chicken pastry, salmon puffs, lamington, fresh fruit tart, and cheesecake. This is actually very good deal and affordable compared to other tea offerings I know of, plus the tea is fine and superb!
La Maison Du The is a premium handcrafted French Tea created to perfection by one of the oldest tea blenders in Paris to give tea-drinkers a very . You have seven options ranging from Green Tea, English Breakfast, Darjeeling, Earl Grey, Chamomile, Lemon and Ginger, and Peppermint. Each tea flavor having its own unique and distinct taste.
DJ Jada and Ms. Monette Atilano, the Marketing & Comunications Manager of Wine Depot talked about La Maison Du The, High Tea Wednesdays and a lot of things about tea! We even had a short quiz to find out our personalities and what tea flavors are suited to us. My quiz results said that the Darjeeling is the perfect tea for me!
Light and savory treats were served to be paired with tea.
Tea-time, finally!!
The La Maison Du The teas are hand torn and are packed on a silk mesh so that means better infusion of flavors in your cup! Best way to experience your tea!
I really liked the light and fruity taste of the Darjeeling — I even bought a can of it!
While munching on our treats and sipping our teas, Ms. Michelle Perez, the Tea & Coffee Specialist of Wine Depot demonstrated on how to make “spiked” tea and cofee. Who says you can’t have some alcohol with your fancy tea? 😛 But I had to pass since my system ain’t really friendly to alcohol *ack allergies*.
I also enjoyed the iced English Breakfast tea! Very refreshing! I honestly prefer English breakfast on ice and with sugar or honey. Wine Depot’s fruit tarts were a sweet treat too! I enjoyed pairing this two up! 😉
Ahhh!! Cheesecake heaven!!
