February is truly a special month at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza. Just after they had their Valentines showcase, as well as an amazing fireworks display, Sofitel continues their streak as they present Chinoiserie a Sofitel Manila, featuring the works of the Dame of Philippine Fashion, Patis Pamintuan Tesoro, whose iconic work with pina has earned her admiration from all over the world.
The exquisite collection, “La Collection Rouge” for Rustan’s is a 40-piece showcase featuring Patis Tesoro’s signature treatment of handwoven pina, embellished with a diverse range of embroidery, beadwork, and painting, all done by hand. The collection draws from a reimagination of Chinoiserie, the popular 18th century east-meets-west art and design movement. Elegance meets the mystical in the casual yet sophisticated pieces that Patis Tesoro introduces in her line.
 A one-of-a-kind fashion show introducing the “La Collection Rouge” was held at Spiral, the French luxury hotel’s premier restaurant. Models had no runway, but instead sauntered around the entire venue, as patrons got to see the designs up close.
The fashion show upped the ante as some of the country’s hottest bloggers modeled the fashion icon’s pieces: David Guison, sisters Vern and Verniece Enciso, and Nikita Conwi.
The pieces were vibrant and colorful with a touch of casual elegance, reflective of Patis Tesoro’s work, as the fusion of the old and the new were evident in the designs. It looks both free-spirited and sophisticated at the same time, perfect for making statements at cocktail dinners.
As the blogger-models made their way to the grand staircase, they welcomed the dame of Philippine fashion, handing her a beautiful bouquet.
