Last June, Kiray Celis formally introduced her boyfriend, Stephan Estopia, on Twitter. She accompanied their photos with the story of how they met.
According to the actress, she felt that all men were the same. Things changed when she met Estopia. She said, “Nung panahon na yun, pare parehas na tingin ko sa mga lalaki. Lahat manloloko. Walang hindi. Pero nung nakilala kita, lahat yun nagbago. Hindi naman pala lahat pare pareho. Depende rin sa tao.” [“At the time, I thought all men were the same. All of them will fool you. No one won’t. But when I got to know you, my perspective changed. Not everyone is the same. It depends on the person.”]”
Now, Celis is offering more advice, this time saying that you don’t need to change for someone to love you.
On Twitter, she said, “Nung nakilala ko yung tamang tao, bigla kong napagtanto na hindi mo kailangang maging ibang tao para mahalin ka ng isang tao. Kailangan mong maging sarili mo. Kailangan mong magpaka totoo. Para makita mo yung halaga mo. At mahalin ka ng ibang tao.” [“When I met the right person, I realized that you don’t need to change to be loved by someone. You need to be yourself and be true to yourself. So you can see your worth. So you can be loved.]
Celis added, “Sa tagal namin ng ex ko naisip ko, di pala ako naging ako. Nabuo yung bagong ako kasi yun yung gusto niya maging ako. Dat ganito Dat ganyan Bawal yan Bawal dito Di pwede pumunta dito. Di pwedeng gawin Wag ka makipagusap dun Wag ganyan Nagkaroon ng bagong ako sa mga salita na yan” [“When I was with my ex, I wasn’t me. A new me was formed because that’s what he wanted me to be. It has to be like this, it has to be like that. That’s not allowed. You can’t go there. You can’t do that, don’t talk to that person. Not like that. There was a new me because of these words.”]
Now that she’s with her new boyfriend, she said that they learned and grew stronger. She cited the quote, “When you get what you want, that’s God’s direction. When you don’t get what you want, that’s God’s protection.”
