Filipino actress and host Kim Chiu aired out her frustrations over the flooding taking place in the Philippines.

In a lengthy post on X, Kim questioned where the public’s taxes are going, especially amid growing concerns over the government’s use of public funds for flood-control projects. She also emphasized that Filipinos have the right to question where their tax money is headed.

“Yes, pera NATIN. Bilang mamamayang Pilipino, nagbabayad tayo ng TAX. Kaya may karapatan tayong magtanong: Saan napupunta ang pera ng bayan? Nasaan ang maayos na paghahanda? Nasaan ang mga proyektong dapat sana ay nagpoprotekta sa atin?” she wrote.
While the actress recognized that frequent typhoons in the country are normal, she stressed that the repeated suffering of the Filipino people should not be normalized, as it highlights the government’s lack of preparedness.
“Natural ang malakas na ulan at bagyo sa Pilipinas, pero hindi dapat maging normal ang paulit-ulit na pagdurusa ng mga Pilipino dahil sa kakulangan sa paghahanda, maayos na imprastraktura at responsableng pamamahala,” she said.
“Do we really deserve this? Papalampasin na lang ba natin ulit?” she added.
She also urged everyone not to turn a blind eye or forget the devastation and suffering once the floods have subsided.
Moreover, she emphasized that the government should be the first to help its countrymen and the first to be held accountable when things go wrong.
“Sana habang may mga kababayan tayong walang matulugan, walang makain at hindi alam kung paano magsisimula ulit, maalala ng mga nasa kapangyarihan kung sino ang tunay nilang pinaglilingkuran. ANG TAUMBAYAN,” she wrote.
“At tayong mga Pilipino, magtanong tayo. Maging mapanuri tayo. Maningil tayo ng maayos na serbisyo at pananagutan,” she concluded. “Dahil pera natin ito. Bayan natin ito. Kinabukasan natin ito. Huwag nating kalimutan.”
Due to the enhanced southwest monsoon (Habagat) that affected the country in late August 2026, more than 8 million individuals were displaced, while multiple infrastructure facilities were damaged across several regions.
