Kanye West: I Made Taylor Swift Famous!

Kanye West I Made Taylor Swift Famous! 3

In Kanye West’s new song “Famous,” part of The Life of Pablo, one line proudly proclaims that he made Taylor Swift famous. The line goes, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, I made that [redacted] famous.”

The Life of Pablo was launched at a highly-publicized event in Madison Square Garden, along with his fashion line Yeezy Season 3, where models stood on stage for over an hour.

Netizens and celebrities have reacted on social media. Model Gigi Hadid tweeted, “My attendance somewhere does not mean I agree with everything being said in the music playing there. My friends know of my loyalty,” while Swift’s brother Austin posted an Instagram video where he threw out a pair of Yeezy x Adidas shoes.

West defended his action in a series of tweets:

However, Swift’s camp is denying that she gave her blessing. A representative said, “Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that [redacted] famous.”

Swift and West first had an altercation in 2009, when West grabbed the microphone from Swift during her acceptance speech at the Video Music Awards to say that Beyonce should have won the award. Just last year, Swift presented West with the lifetime achievement award, also at the VMA, and he sent her dozens of white roses and called her his BFF or best friend forever.

The two will meet again tomorrow for the 58th Grammy Awards, where Swift is nominated for seven awards while West is nominated for four.
