Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Brought Back My Love for Dinosaurs

I still remember the very first time I saw ‘real’ dinosaurs on the big screen. While I had always been a fan of dinosaurs, courtesy of ‘The Land Before Time’, I found myself completely in awe of ‘Jurassic Park’ when it came out in 1993. I was six years old and my life completely changed. Watching ‘Jurassic Park’ might not seem like a big deal now; but back then? My, was it mind-blowing!

As such, I can never really help myself whenever a new Jurassic movie comes out. The minute that one is released; I am there on opening day, ready to scream my hearts out in excitement, awe, and, of course, nervousness. (Special thanks to PMCM Management and Resort World Manila for the first-day screening last Wednesday!)

‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ starts off full of dinosaurs and action, setting the tone for the rest of the movie. There are a lot of action-filled scenes that will make you scream and will make you want to avert your eyes out of nervousness (but don’t do that, of course!). There are also dinosaur scenes aplenty, including one similar to the very first ‘Jurassic Park’ movie where they spot a brontosaurus on the island. It brings back all the old school feels but is even better because, well, we’ve come a long way in terms of technology and CGI. :p

The cast is also great. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard aside, Justice Smith is very memorable, as well, thanks to his humorous take on his role. (You might remember him from ‘Paper Towns’, where he stole the show from the lead actor.) He actually reminds me of Will Smith in the 90s.

Of course, the highlight of it all is still the dinosaurs and in this, we get a brand new dinosaur called the endoraptor, which is as scary as it sounds. Slthough, honestly, I don’t think we needed a new dinosaur to scare the bejeezuz out of us. I think T-rexes and velociraptors can still do that just fine.

We also get a beautiful look at a ton of baby dinosaurs throughout the movie, which makes me wish I could somehow adopt one and keep one as a pet. :p

Have you seen ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ yet? Did you like it? Some of the reviews online say it was bad and I don’t know if I’m just being biased coz of my love for dinosaurs, so I would love to hear your thoughts on it! 🙂
