A few days ago, we were given an invite to a new product release of the local fast food place Jollibee. I’m used to being the new product taster for my family and friends. After receiving the invite, we at WhenInManila.com were speculating what Jollibee will bring (or bring back) to the tab…err, menu.
The big reveal!
I personally thought they’d revive an old favorite of mine (I want my Chicken Mushroom Pasta back!). *sigh* Not today, I guess, but what they showed us was even better – and just in time for the summer season.
Today, Jollibee released its new Salted Caramel Choco Sundae in all stores nationwide!
So, how does it taste? In a world where fast food options offer almost the same varieties of the dessert staple known as the sundae, one has to look for that unique flavor to stand out. Jollibee’s incorporation of Salted Caramel is just pure genius!
It provides a great balance, making the whole thing not overpoweringly sweet after a few scoops. The creaminess of the foundation (i.e. the soft serve ice cream) provides a platform for these contrasting flavors to mingle, resulting in a delightful dance of flavor on your palate. Seriously, I can down two of these much more easily than just plain chocolate sundaes.
The best part? It costs just the same as any of their other sundae offerings at 29 pesos! Add a mini sundae to your meal for 20 pesos…but really, I’d go for the regular sundae instead. You know you want to. *grins*
Jollibee has made it a point to release menu items that will last and will eventually become classics. The Chickenjoy, the Jolly Spaghetti, and the Burger Steak (my forever love) are just a few of these mainstays…and I truly believe that the Salted Caramel Choco Sundae has the potential to join the ranks of these delicious langhap-sarap treats.
