Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are officially heading for divorce after TODAY.com obtained the “petition for dissolution of marriage” which was filed by Joe in Miami Dade County, Florida.
The document reportedly states that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken” and that the couple had a prenuptial agreement. It also mentions that their two children have been living with Joe but that “it is in the best interests of the minor children that the parties have shared parental responsibility.”
Both Joe and Sophie have yet to confirm the divorce themselves.
News of their separation came to light after an unnamed source sent a statement to PEOPLE.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2019 in two separate ceremonies—one in Las Vegas after the Billboard Music Awards and another in France surrounded by close friends and family—were said to have hired a divorce lawyer after experiencing “serious problems” for the past half year, as TMZ claims.

“Joe had his people contact and consult with at least 2 L.A.-area divorce lawyers and he is on the cusp of filing divorce docs to end his marriage to Sophie,” TMZ said.
Prior to this, Joe was spotted wearing his wedding ring at a Jonas Brothers concert on Sunday night, September 3, and again in a photo uploaded on his Instagram account on September 4. At the time, fans thought that it was his way of shutting down the divorce rumors.

Meanwhile, Sophie’s most recent Instagram post, shared on August 16, included a sweet photo of herself and Joe taken from the Jonas Brothers’ concerts in New York City. “long long New York nights,” she captioned.

Joe and Sophie were first romantically linked in late 2016 and got engaged nearly a year after. They had their first baby in July 2020 and their second in July 2022.
