Jennifer Aniston On Why She Thinks Marvel Movies Have ‘Diminished’ Cinema

With the immense popularity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any serious haters of the franchise. While it may not be a faultless product of film, their success throughout the years has earned the respect of many. But that doesn’t mean they’re impervious to criticism.

A more recent critique that’s only just been expressed comes from Jennifer Aniston. The Friends actress discussed what she believes media like “big Marvel movies” has done to the film industry in an interview with Variety.

“It wasn’t until the last couple of years when these streaming services were just sort of exploding with this amount of quality that I actually started to think, ‘Wow, that’s better than what I just did,’” Aniston said. “And then you’re seeing what’s available out there and it’s just diminishing and diminishing in terms of, it’s big Marvel movies. Or things that I’m not just asked to do or really that interested in living in a green screen.”

Several netizens were quick to anger at her comments, questioning if she really had the “movie record” to critique Marvel. However, others were also understanding her point. They defended that she was not bashing the quality of Marvel movies, instead, she was commenting on its effect on role availability.
