Japan to Experience High Temperatures Until the End of October

Bad news for those expecting to dress cozily this October for their autumn trip to Japan: you’re going to have to expect temperatures to remain high throughout the next two months.

As forecasted by the Japan Meteorological Agency, the “fall weather” which is usually felt towards the end of September will be coming late this year due to the effects of climate change and frequent typhoons.

“Nationwide, September is projected to see high temperatures, meaning that the remainder of summer will be hot and fall-like weather will come late,โ€ said Shotaro Tanaka, an official at the agency, at a news conference according to Japan Times.

He added: โ€œAlthough it is a season when temperatures will gradually begin to drop, it is important to remain vigilant and continue to take measures against heatstroke, given that the lingering summer heat is severe.โ€

The NHK also reported that maximum temperatures of 35ยฐ C may be experienced in the first half of September, and temperatures of over 30ยฐ C in October.

The warm fall follows a particularly sweltering summer in the country. The agency also advised locals and people traveling to Japan to be prepared for sudden, heavy rainfall every now and then.

โ€œIt is important to take countermeasures against heavy rainfall, and so we ask people to continue paying attention to the latest weather information,โ€ Tanaka said.
