James Yap must have found a time machine or something because he’s been playing like the James Yap of old.

The Rain or Shine forward, who goes by the monicker “Big Game James,” had two impressive performances to lead his team to two victories in their first two games of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

He beat out the Meralco guards Baser Amer and Chris Newsome for the Player of the Week honors for the period of March 17 to 19.

Against the NLEX Road Warriors the 35-year-old Yap exploded for 26 points, making 5-of-11 from beyond the arc. In the Elasto Painters’ next outing, Yap came off the bench and contributed 12 points, including three triples.

If Yap can continue to play like his vintage self, Rain or Shine just might succeed in defending their title this conference.

Do you agree that Big Game James won Player of the Week?
