The Philippine Mavericks on the other hand, also won 4 of 5 sets against the top seeded UAE royals – 6-2, 6-4, 5-6, 6-3, 6-3 – dealing UAE’s first lose in the season.

Playing in front of a home crowd, Milos Raonic, Treat Huey, Serena Williams, Mark Philippoussis, and Richard Gasquet were the crowd-favorite, especially when Serena Williams took the court.

The crowd in Manila was great last year, and more so this year, it was wonderful walking out for the home team. I really enjoyed playing the mixed doubles with Treat today, we had our chances, and it was a really close match.” Williams said.

The UAE Royals will face the Indian Aces next, while the Philippine Mavericks will play against the Japan Warriors.
