International House of Pancakes ( IHOP ) Hits Manila

When In Manila, we sure always look for the perfect comfort food and International House of Pancakes (IHOP) adds up to our top list! I can’t pass sharing with you my experience even though my space revolves around fashion.

Are their pancakes truly worth the wait?

Big Steak Omelette (P 325) – Tender strips of steak, hash browns, fresh green peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and Cheddar cheese, served with salsa

This is one of their highly recommended omelette variety and what’s great is that as a combo, this comes with 2 buttermilk pancakes! We chose to substitute it with other pancake flavors with just an extra charge of P 50.

My, this omelette is huge. The fillings are extremely packed with meat and mushrooms and the other ingredients just blended well together especially with the salsa. Having the batter mix of its signature buttermilk and wheat pancake, it somehow brings out a fluffier texture.

New York Cheesecake Pancakes (Add-on from the omelette) – 2 fluffy buttermilk pancakes loaded with creamy, rich cheesecake pieces and crowned with cool strawberries, powdered sugar and whipped topping

I love how the presentation is so simple yet it looks so appetizing! They truly owned it when they stated “FLUFFY.”  As I took a bite, I felt it melt inside my mouth and along with the syrup and strawberry chunks, every bite delivers. I suggest to eat their pancakes while it’s hot because if you wait too long, the consistency may become floury and heavy. This for me is my favorite flavor from the bunch!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Pancakes ( P 255 )  – 2 rich chocolate battered pancakes filled with chocolate chips and topped with powdered sugar and whipped topping (Buttermilk version also available)

This flavor I find disappointing in my opinion. The batter and mixture is way different; it was flat and the overall flavor is not there at all. I truly hope they can improve it for that kick of chocolatiness! I also think ordering the buttermilk version would be better.

Belgian Waffle Combo ( P285 ) – Our Belgian waffle served with 2 eggs and your choice of 2 bacon strips and or 2 pork sausage links

As much as I love pancakes, waffles are no exception. We opt choosing sunny side ups and bacons with this combo. At first, I was expecting a crunchier texture since waffles are originally made with a crisp. But again the consistency is similar with their pancakes, 100% soft and fluffy! I don’t mind having the same consistency, but for some who wants that crispy edge, be mindful of this.

Appetizer Sampler ( P 425 ) – All our favorites: Monster Mozza sticks, onion rings and crispy chicken strips, served with honey mustard and marinara sauces

To have some saltiness on the palate, we just ordered some more finger food! That Mozza sticks are surprisingly gooey which is my favorite.

The chicken strips are good as well although the onion rings are covered with thick batter which I do not appreciate much.

 Swiss Mocha ( P 145 )

To end our meal, we chose a hot beverage to complete our comfort experience! I must warn you that this is a huge mug that is good for sharing. Though the mocha flavor is not that rich as I was expecting, that full whipped cream is so irresistible to look at don’t you think?

That’s it! This ends the journey for comfort of 5 friends. Their pancakes are worth the wait and I love their New York Cheesecake and waffles with its soft and fluffy consistency! Overall, it was a good visit and I love the fact that their servings are good for sharing and they have wide selections that would make us go back again.

On a side note, I truly suggest visiting on non-peak hours if you want  to avoid extremely long lines.

So what are you waiting for? Don’t miss out dropping at IHOP When in Manila!
