Ilocos Norte is under total lockdown to prevent entry of coronavirus

As the new coronavirus continues to spread, many places have taken their own preventative measures. Government officials have issued lockdowns and quarantines to contain the spread of the virus.

With this, Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc issued EO 65-20 last Sunday, placing the province under total lockdown. The order issued states that no one is allowed to enter the province except for identified individuals.

The order also states that returning residents are asked not to return home until the COVID-19 crisis has ended. It is also banning unnecessary travel across cities and municipalities.

Currently, there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 in Ilocos Norte. However, the LGU states that this order is to avert the spreading of the disease and to maintain the status of the province as COVID-free.

As of writing, there have been 1,419 reported cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines with 71 deaths and 42 recoveries.
