One can grab a microphone, a pair of drumsticks, an electric guitar, wear eyeliners, bright bling blings, leather boots, and rock star jackets to make himself look like a rock star. But not everyone has what it takes to be hailed as the grand champion of the first and only reality battle of the bands competition on Philippine TV, IGNITE GOSPEL MUSIC FESTIVAL SEASON 2!

From over a hundred aspiring musicians who auditioned, we’re now down to the 3 bands that will compete for the grand finale.

Who will be this season’s grand champion and take home P100, 000? Will it be Coach Aia’s KNIGHTS & DEI, Coach Harald’s RENAME, or Coach Jay’s ROCOCHET?

Knights & Dei is considered as the band who experienced the most number of shuffling. Every performance, Coach Aia De Leon (former vocalist, Imago) continuously shuffles them until she found the best musicians in her group not just in terms of skills but in chemistry and flexibility as well. But on a final note, she said that it is an honor to witness all their gifts, to have been encouraged by their passions, and humbled by their uniqueness.

Originally, Rename is composed of six members. But on the day before the auditions, Rename’s original drummer and vocalist backed out. Without practice, the rest of its members plus Aaron, a soloist, proceed to the auditions, hoping to get the shot. With their amazing talent, the band wowed second time mentor-judge, Harald Huyssen (drummer, Shamrock & Gloryfall), making them part of his team. After four gruesome performances, Huyssen chose Rename to be his final band and added Chester, who also auditioned as a soloist, to the group.

Ricochet is a fusion of two bands Saio and Metanoia who auditioned individually. It is said that among the three bands, Ricochet seems to have most number of “unfortunate events.” During the auditions, Saio’s vocalist backed out at the last minute. On the other hand, Metanoia’s [originally] 9 members were forced to perform individually due to technical constraints, with only 2 of them making it to the next round. Nevertheless, Coach Jay Durias (singer, composer South Border) is confident of the 6 protĂ©gĂ©s he has handpicked. “No pressure, just have fun” is what he always say to his team. Music and friendship bonded them up so well to the point of forgetting the element of “competition,” which to him was a very good thing.

Watch the Grand Finals Night on September 27, 6:30 pm at the Music Museum and let’s all together find out who among the three bands will be hailed as Ignite Gospel Music Festival Season 2’s grand champion.
