We’ve seen plenty of Jokers in the past but that doesn’t mean there’s not enough space for one more. We watched Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, and Jared Leto. There’ll be a new Joker and he’ll be played by Joaquin Phoenix, and we got to see our first photo of the actor in full makeup for a biopic.

Phoenix’s Joker will be set outside the DC Extended Universe and will have no effect on Leto’s future appearances as the Joker. He will star with Robert de Niro as a talk show host, Deadpool‘s Zazie Beetz, and there are rumors that American Horror Story‘s Frances Conroy will join as the Joker’s mother.

Warner Bros. even released a teaser for Phoenix, and TMZ captured a clip of a scene being shot on the subway.
Phillips mentioned that Joker will be different from the other films. We’re excited for it to come out on October 4, 2019!
