During her guesting on Tonight With Boy Abunda which aired on December 6, host Boy Abunda poked fun at the fake news about her death. “Sabi ng mga balita pumanaw ka na. Bakit ka narito? (The news said you already died. Why are you here?)” he joked.

Rufa Mae merely laughed and expressed distress over the hoax.

Noong una, dinedma ko pero ang daming nakakaalam. Natakot ako tas nagdasal ako, sabi ko ‘sana naman walang ganung mga chismis,” she shared.

(“At first, I ignored it, but then a lot of people were talking about it. I got scared and I prayed, saying ‘I wish people didn’t spread that kind of gossip.”)

Boy then asked Rufa Mae to prove to everyone that she was very much alive. In response, Rufa Mae started flailing her arms and kicking the air. “Alive and kicking!” she said. “Alive na alive!”

Aside from Rufa Mae, Gab Valenciano, son of Gary Valenciano, had also been a victim of the fake news back in September 2019. He addressed the issue on a Facebook post and told those responsible: “To those people who have been posting fake news about me, may God bless you. Every person deals with hardship differently, this could be your way of dealing with your pain. So with that I pray for you.”
