Albie Casiño is opening up about why he’s been more outspoken lately, especially on issues affecting Filipinos. According to the actor, becoming a father shifted the way he sees things.

In a recent ABS-CBN News report, Albie shared that fatherhood made him more aware of what’s happening around him.
“I have a son, so I guess I’m more political now,” he said, explaining that he now thinks more about the kind of future he wants his child to grow up in.
Albie recently made headlines for calling out Pinoy Big Brother winner and civil engineer Slater Young, one of the developers behind the controversial Monterrazas de Cebu project. The development has been under public scrutiny after being linked by social media users to flash floods in Cebu.
He also questioned why there wasn’t more discussion when the project began, pointing out that earlier assurances about safety didn’t match what people eventually experienced. Albie clarified that personal connections wouldn’t stop him from speaking up if something felt off.
A look back on his more viral moments
This isn’t the first time Albie has spoken up on public issues. He recalled going viral during the pandemic for criticizing a former president. After that, he promised his parents he’d tone down the political commentary, but fatherhood, he said, changed that perspective.
Albie admitted feeling worried about the country’s current state, citing viral videos of people climbing onto their roofs to escape floodwaters. As a new dad, scenes like these hit differently.
He shared that these realities make him more empathetic and more determined to speak out when necessary. “Now that I have a son, I want to leave a better future for him,” he said.
Albie encouraged Filipinos to call out corruption wherever they see it and to hold public officials accountable. When asked about his message to Slater, his response remained straightforward: he wished the developer would speak up—at the very least, to express condolences to the families affected.
