The Aichi Prefectural Government revealed more information about its new theme, the Studio Ghibli Theme Park. This includes the park’s layout and features, which will have five zones. The Studio Ghibli Theme Park will be built across over 200 hectares of land.

The park will be located in Aichi’s Expo Park in Nagoya, Japan, is based entirely on My Neighbor Totoro.

It is set to open in 2022.

Restaurants and rest areas will be set up in this area, inspired by the wasteland of Howl’s Moving Castle and the beautiful Okino residence from Kiki’s Delivery Service.

The Aichi Prefectural Government said that the design of the park is currently being finalized. The construction of the first three areas will begin in 2020 and the final two areas in 2021.

They anticipate the development will then move forward at a steady pace, with plans to open the first three areas in the autumn of 2022, and Mononoke’s Village and the Witches’ Valley opening a year later, in 2023.
