Harry Styles was called “consent king” and here’s why

Harry Styles recently released the music video for his single, Watermelon Sugar. At the start of the video, it said it was “dedicated to touching.” The music video featured models on the beach, and indeed, there was a lot of touching involved.

With this, Ephrata, a model who was in the music video, talked about her experience filming with the singer. In an Instagram Live, Ephrata, with another model who was in the music video (Aalany McMahan), called Styles a “consent king.”

She recalled her experience saying that she remembers Styles asking her if he could touch her hair before doing so. Ephrata said, “The people were telling him to touch my hair and play with it and he was like, ‘Wait, wait, wait, pause. Can I even touch your hair? Is that even okay?’”

McMahan said that the singer was very big on consent while filming the Watermelon Sugar music video. In turn, Ephrata shared that she also felt the need to ask the singer if she could kiss him when the directors of the music video told her to do so. “That’s why it was so fun because everybody was so like comfortable,” the model said.
