Easing off while taking a mental note of the aroma, character and taste of each wine you were introduced to so far, the delicate and feminine appearance of a pink wine is so inviting. But do not be deceived. BRAMPTON ROSÉ is no one-dimensional wine. Its sophistication makes it an extremely versatile food-wine and can be enjoyed in all dining occasions or on its own. Enticing wine lovers with its perfumed nose pointing to watermelon, raspberry, strawberry and red cherries to round up a decent follow through to the palate.
A dry finish becomes more pleasing by the concentrated flavours.
Still trying to figure out whether it was a stroke of destiny or clearly déjà vu, wine tasting can be just as wavering. But, there is always that one wine will make you forget about the others for a moment as it displays a stunning liquid gold which offers natural sweetness like that of the BOSCHENDAL VIN D’Or. The result of blending Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Rousanne and Grenache Blanc altogether. There is spiced vanilla alongside baked red apple, tropical pineapple and honeysuckle aromas. On the palate, it is rich and viscous. That’s how Boschendal Vin D’Or is, delicious on its own or with something sweet or indeed savoury.
GETTING TO KNOW YOU
Formally established in the year 1990, DGB roots extend over 300 years and winemaking started at the Boschendal farms in Cape Wineland where Bellingham, The Old Maturation Cellar, can still be found.
Today, DGB, a company built on visionary ambition, entrepreneurial drive and progressive innovation in the South African Wine and Spirit Industry, still carries the same passion, dedication and sophistication in wine production and trade as it was back in the 1940’s when Douglas Green pioneered the wholesale sales model for wine in Paarl.
DGB is currently the largest employer in Wellington in the Cape, home to the impressive Douglas Green headquarters and houses a state-of-the-art modern wineries and production facilities. Their prized vineyards stretch from the Northern Cape, along the banks of Orange River to the Western Cape of South Africa.
TUNING IN
Coming away from a wine tasting event feeling great about it and yourself with no real clarity as to why, perhaps it’s time to recall the bottle from where all the tasting pour began. Brilliant for social drinking or with anything from fresh summer salads to pan-fried fish and savoury Mediterranean pastas, the BRAMPTON SAUVIGNON BLANC (100%) displays a fairly unique array of flavours. The initial impression is subtle yet extremely focused with prominent pear, passion fruit, yellow peach and pineapple fruit aromas that expand further on the palate to a crisp clean finish that will keep you coming back… and coming back.
Meanwhile, hope remains for another intimate wine-tasting adventure when in Manila or back where you’re at. Whether finding the right wine is a stroke of destiny or a matter of déjà vu, I will never know, when echos of serendipity creates a charming eloquent sound that should lead you to me… or me, to you…
