In an episode of Toni Talks, Gerald was asked how he dealt with being labeled a “cheater” or “womanizer” by the public due to his highly publicized breakups in the past.

“Alam niyo kung sino naging girlfriends ko, hindi ko na maitatago. Kapag sila ‘yung girl, sila talaga. Walang iba (You all know who my girlfriends have been—I can’t hide that anymore. When she’s the one, she really is the only one. No one else),” he said.

He also admitted that it was “almost impossible” for him to fall into temptation.

“Especially sa work natin, sa environment natin, sa situations natin na hindi ka mafa-fall sa (you wouldn’t fall into) temptation, especially at a young age, and everything is… binabato na lang sayo lahat (everything is thrown at you),” he revealed. “It’s very hard not to fall into that.”

In light of the recent breakup rumors circulating between him and his longtime girlfriend, Julia Barretto, he confirmed that they are still together.

“No, we’re okay,” he set the record straight, adding that Julia did not remove their photos from her Instagram account. “Kanina hinatid ko siya sa airport, pupunta sila ng Dubai (I drove her to the airport [before this interview]. She is flying to Dubai).”

He also expressed his disappointment over how the public draws conclusions based on someone’s activities on social media: “Nakakalungkot na ‘yun na ‘yung basehan (It’s sad that it has become the public’s basis).”

In fact, the Pinoy Big Brother alum shared that his relationship with the actress has grown even deeper in the last five years.

“Si Julia is very mapagmahal (loving), very motherly… ‘Yung values na meron siya, ‘yung love [at] support na binibigay niya (The values she has, the love and support she gives), it inspires me to be better and give her ‘yung 100% best ko always—yung best version ko.”

He also shared what he learned about women in terms of being in love and being in a long-term relationship:

“In my relationship now, nandoon ako sa (I look at the) bigger picture lagi: lahat ng ginagawa ko (everything I do) is for the endgame,” he responded.

“Something simple means so much to them… Like for example, magbibigay ako ng mamahaling regalo, I’ll always give, in another moment, magbibigay ako ng flowers lang. Iba ‘yung saya (I might give an expensive gift, and then at another moment, I’ll just give flowers—but the happiness is different),” he added, sharing that he wanted to provide and shower his love for his partner.

In a separate interview, the actor was asked about his plans to marry the Un/Happy For You actress.

“Of course. Five years na kami. But itong moment na ‘to, ‘yung moment niya ngayon, let her enjoy. Huwag nating madaliin (Of course, we’ve been together for five years. But this is her moment right now, let her enjoy. Let’s not rush things),” he said.
