Who else here is obsessed with Disney+ at the moment? With so many amazing choices, there really is no limit to what you can watch on the streaming platform. We recently got a spine-chilling new addition to our watch list, as well: Gannibal, a heart-pounding new Japanese psychothriller that is now streaming on Disney+.
Set in Kuge, a fictional Japanese village, Gannibal sees newly moved police officer Daigo Agawa arrive as a broken man. While things start off promisingly for the new arrival, a series of alarming events, including the unexpected death of an elderly villager, begin to unfold, leading Daigo to the horrifying realization that something is deeply wrong with the village and those who live there. Thrown into a hostile environment with suspense around every corner, will the latest police officer to patrol the streets of Kuge village be able to bring those responsible to justice before it’s too late?
Based on the hit manga series of the same name by Masaaki Ninomiya, Gannibal features a unique storyline. Yuya Yagira (HOKUSAI, Asakusa Kid), known for winning Best Actor at the 57th Cannes Film Festival, plays the role of police officer Daigo Agawa who is faced with unexpected events after moving to a new village, and Riho Yoshioka (Quartet, Here Comes Asa!) plays Yuki Agawa, Daigo’s wife who moved to the new village in hope to find peace after going through a traumatic incident. Show Kasamatsu (Tokyo Vice, Love You as the World Ends) takes on the role of Keisuke Goto, a member of the Goto family that dominates the mysterious Kuge village.
Enjoy the nail-biting series Gannibal, exclusively on Disney+ today.
