OPM Icon Freddie Aguilar Passes Away at 72

Freddie Aguilar has passed away. He was 72.

According to a report published by ABS-CBN, Freddie died at the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City.

On May 22, his wife, Jovie Albao, posted a photo of herself holding a cup of coffee inside the hospital. The caption read: “Stay strong, things will get better. It may be stormy now, but it can’t rain forever.”

Freddie Aguilar was a veteran OPM hitmaker and singer-songwriter, best known for his internationally acclaimed hit Anak, which was released in 53 countries, translated into over 50 languages, and sold more than 33 million copies worldwide.

May he rest in peace.
