We are officially getting a Freaky Friday sequel!
That’s right, guys. Disney has confirmed that production is underway for “Freaky Friday 2,” the long-awaited Freaky Friday sequel (can you believe it has been more than 20 years since the beloved comedy came out?). This time, however, the freaky fun takes a turn for the multigenerational.
Freaky Friday 2 Plot
Original stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan will be back to reprise their roles as uptight psychologist Tess Coleman and her teenage daughter, Anna. Years have passed since their magical body-swapping ordeal, and life has thrown its fair share of curveballs. Anna is now a young mother herself, navigating the challenges of blended families with her fiancé and his daughter. Meanwhile, Tess, ever the control freak, is struggling to adjust to the idea of not being the head of the household anymore.
Then, lightning strikes twice (literally). Another magical mishap throws Tess and Anna back into each other’s bodies, with hilarious and heartwarming consequences. This time, however, they’re not the only ones affected. Anna’s daughter and Tess’s soon-to-be stepdaughter also get caught in the crossfire, leading to a four-way body swap extravaganza.
Freaky Friday 2 Cast
The Freaky Friday sequel also welcomes new faces to the franchise. Julia Butters (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and rising star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever) join the cast as the teenage girls caught in the body swap. With a fresh perspective and a multigenerational twist, the sequel promises to capture the hearts of a whole new generation while offering a nostalgic trip down memory lane for fans of the original.
Set for a theatrical release in 2025, the Freaky Friday sequel is poised to become a family comedy event. Get ready for double the trouble, quadruple the laughs, and a heartwarming exploration of family bonds that transcend age and physical form.
