16-Year Old Filipina Wins 5 World Scholar’s Cup Medals and Needs Your Help To Continue Competing

Frances Cortez, a 16-year-old high school student, has already made an impressive mark by winning 5 medals the World Scholar’s Cup. This is an international academic competition that brings together scholars from around the globe. As part of their success, Frances and her team will be moving on to the next stage of the competition to be held at Yale University in Connecticut, USA from November 5 to 13, 2019.

Unfortunately, Frances and her family lack the funds for her trip. Her father has been busking along BGC for tips, her mother has been selling bags. They have explored seeking sponsorships and selling personal items but have still not reached their goal. Now, Frances is reaching out and crowdsourcing online.

She writes on her Facebook post: “I am knocking on your hearts to please help me fund making my dream to compete in the last leg of this competition a reality.”

With her shining record and immense potential, it would be a shame for Frances to miss out on the “Tournament of Champions” just because of circumstances. So if you’d like to help out you can reach out to Frances’ parents here or deposit directly to their BPI account (1929-2139-43).
