FOCUS: Upholding Tradition, Magnifiying Production – UP Broadcasting Association Week
For many decades, the UP Broadcasting Association has upheld a fine tradition of passion, excellence and glory beyond compare. Its remarkable progress over the years is motivated by the constant struggle of its members to live up to the demands of competence and innovation. Broad Ass has also remained one of the most prestigious organizations in the university as it produced a number of illustrious names in the industry today such as Maryo J. Delos Reyes, Loren Legarda, Luchi Cruz-Valdez, Ogie Alcasid and many others. The years have also seen the org’s commitment to produce relevant videos, campaigns and events that seek to inspire and involve the youth in social action.
This 2014, the UP Broadcasting Association kicks of its 45th year with a week-long celebration filled with events not only for its members, but for the university as well. With the theme, “FOCUS: Upholding Tradition, Magnifiying Production”, Broad Ass Week marks the organization’s growth as it embraces a sharper and clearer vision for the future. In line with this, a series of events organized by the residents are to be held from March 3 to 7. The week starts off with a movie marathon for the Assers that seeks to promote camaraderie within its resident body. The said event is followed by CRISP, a grand luncheon to be held at the College of Mass Communication, and this coincides with the launching of the Broad Ass Week Exhibit entitled, DEFINE. In its goal to mold today’s aspiring media practitioners, RESONATE, a seminar on the fundamentals of sound design, will also be conducted. The week also serves as an opportunity for the Assers to give back to the hardworking personnel of the college through an event organized only for them entitled, SHARPEN. Finally, Broad Ass Week comes to an end with HIGH DEF, the organization’s annual Anniversary Party.
