Disneyland is all set to open the doors to its newest Marvel-themed area called “Avengers Campus” this summer at its California Adventure park, and it finally gave us a first look at what it’s meant to look like with its stunning concept art!
The story of Avengers Campus (which stands for Centralized Assembly Mobilized to Prepare, Unite, and Safeguard) is that the iconic superheroes are hoping to recruit park-goers to join its mighty team, and the only way to do so is to experience everything within this new land.
There will be five main areas: Collector’s Fortress (where the already existing Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout is located); the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (or WEB) (where the Spider-Man ride will be put up); Pym Test Kitchen and Tasting Lab (a food and beverage establishment); the Sanctum (a meet-and-greet area for Doctor Strange); and the Avengers Headquarters, (which will house the stage for live shows and eventually a much bigger attraction).
Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure will be the only ride open to the public on opening day. It is a 3D shooting ride without height restrictions (meaning even toddlers can join this ride) and also serves as a virtual tour around Avengers Campus. The best part is that Tom Holland will be voicing Spider-Man in the attraction!
Meanwhile, guests can have a “mystical” meeting with Doctor Strange at the Sanctum (or rather, the ruins thereof) where he will impress you with “mystical arts” and illusions. The Sanctum will be a verdant garden during the day and will light up beautifully during the evening.
There will also be 15 Marvel characters who will come to life and roam around the theme park for you to take photos with. They will be Spider-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, Thor, Doctor Strange, Groot and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America, Captain Marvel, and Loki.
Avengers Campus opens at Disney’s California Adventure July 18.
