One of the improvements President Duterte had proposed (or, should I say, promised?) even before he was elected was a centralized emergency hotline similar to what Davao has — Dial ‘911’, same as that of the US. Now, after telecommunication companies, private partners, and government representatives got together earlier this July for the Memorandum of Agreement signing, this is finally coming true!
From 117, the emergency hotline will now be 911. And this, as well as the 8888 citizen complaint hotline (for reporting abuses in and by government offices), will be in full swing and ready to accept calls come August 1.
Looks like the president is bent on delivering his promises. What do you think?
